Cheesesteak Eggrolls

Cheesesteak Egg Rolls are a delicious fusion of two beloved dishes, combining the flavors of classic cheesesteak sandwiches with the crispy shell of egg rolls. Here’s a recipe to make them at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) thinly sliced steak (such as ribeye or sirloin)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 4 oz (115g) sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 egg roll wrappers
  • 8 slices provolone or American cheese
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Optional dipping sauce: ketchup, mayonnaise, or cheese sauce

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Steak and Vegetables:
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced steak and cook until browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add a little more oil if needed, then add the sliced onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms (if using). Cook until the vegetables are tender and caramelized. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  1. Assemble the Egg Rolls:
  • Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean, dry surface, with one corner pointing towards you (diamond shape).
  • Place a slice of cheese diagonally in the center of the wrapper.
  • Add a small amount of the cooked steak and sautéed vegetables on top of the cheese.
  1. Roll the Egg Rolls:
  • Fold the bottom corner of the wrapper over the filling, tucking it tightly around the filling.
  • Fold the left and right corners of the wrapper towards the center, forming an envelope shape.
  • Brush the top corner of the wrapper with a little water or beaten egg, then roll the wrapper tightly away from you, sealing the egg roll.
  1. Fry the Egg Rolls:
  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  • Carefully add the egg rolls to the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Use tongs to turn them occasionally for even cooking.
  • Remove the fried egg rolls from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Repeat with the remaining egg rolls.
  1. Serve:
  • Let the cheesesteak egg rolls cool slightly before serving.
  • Serve them hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ketchup, mayonnaise, or cheese sauce.

Enjoy these delicious homemade cheesesteak egg rolls as an appetizer, snack, or even a main dish! They’re perfect for parties, game days, or any occasion where you want to impress with a tasty and unique dish.
