Amish Cinnamon Bread is a sweet and delicious bread that’s perfect for breakfast or as a snack. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients:

For the bread:

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 cups buttermilk

For the cinnamon-sugar topping:

  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9×5-inch loaf pans and set them aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until well combined.
  6. In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon for the topping.
  7. Pour half of the batter evenly into the prepared loaf pans. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter in each pan.
  8. Pour the remaining batter evenly over the cinnamon-sugar mixture in each pan. Use a knife or skewer to swirl the cinnamon-sugar mixture into the batter.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Remove the loaves from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes.
  11. Carefully remove the loaves from the pans and transfer them to wire racks to cool completely before slicing.
