Ingredients 🛒

Banana Batter

  • 2 ripe bananas (200–220g), mashed
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup sugar (or brown sugar)
  • ½ cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt

Chocolate Batter

  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 50–70g dark chocolate, melted (optional but recommended)

Method 👩‍🍳

  1. Preheat: Set oven to 170°C (340°F). Line or grease a loaf pan.
  2. Whisk: In a bowl, whisk eggs and sugar until slightly pale.
  3. Mix wet: Add oil (or butter), milk, vanilla, and mashed bananas. Stir until smooth.
  4. Dry mix: Sift in flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Fold gently.
  5. Divide: Split batter into two equal portions.
  6. Chocolate swirl: To one portion, add cocoa powder, milk, and melted chocolate. Mix well.
  7. Layer: Spoon alternating dollops of banana and chocolate batter into loaf pan.
  8. Marble: Use a skewer to swirl gently for a marble effect.
  9. Top: Add banana slices or drizzle with chocolate if desired.
  10. Bake: Bake 50–60 minutes until a skewer comes out clean.
  11. Cool: Rest in pan 10–15 minutes, then transfer to rack to cool completely.
