- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1½ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp instant yeast
- ÂĽ cup vegetable oil
- 1½ cups warm water (110°F)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Sesame seeds (optional, for topping)
Instructions 👩‍🍳
- Mix dry: In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Add liquids: Pour in warm water and oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead: Turn onto floured surface and knead 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First rise: Place in oiled bowl, cover, and let rise ~1 hour until doubled.
- Shape: Punch down dough, shape into round or oval loaf, place on lined tray.
- Second rise: Cover loosely and let rise 20–30 minutes.
- Finish: Brush with beaten egg, sprinkle sesame seeds if using.
- Bake: Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden and hollow-sounding.
