Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¾ cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • ¼ cup warm water
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • Extra butter for brushing

Instructions

  1. Activate Yeast: In a bowl, combine warm water, warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 min until foamy.
  2. Mix Dough: Add egg, salt, and softened butter. Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead: Knead dough for 8–10 min until smooth and elastic. Place in greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour or until doubled.
  4. Shape: Punch down dough and shape into a loaf. Place in greased 9×5-inch loaf pan. Cover and let rise 30–45 min.
  5. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake 30–35 min until golden and hollow-sounding when tapped.
  6. Finish: Brush warm loaf with melted butter. Cool slightly before slicing.
