Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- ¾ cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
- ¼ cup warm water
- 1 large egg
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
- Extra butter for brushing
Instructions
- Activate Yeast: In a bowl, combine warm water, warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 min until foamy.
- Mix Dough: Add egg, salt, and softened butter. Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead: Knead dough for 8–10 min until smooth and elastic. Place in greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour or until doubled.
- Shape: Punch down dough and shape into a loaf. Place in greased 9×5-inch loaf pan. Cover and let rise 30–45 min.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake 30–35 min until golden and hollow-sounding when tapped.
- Finish: Brush warm loaf with melted butter. Cool slightly before slicing.
