Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or sausage
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 1 cup sour cream or cream cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup chopped red bell pepper (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried parsley or Italian herbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter or oil for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook Meat: In a skillet, sauté ground meat with onion and garlic until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Mix Base: In a large bowl, combine cooked rice, sour cream, half the cheddar and mozzarella, bell pepper, and herbs.
  4. Combine: Stir in cooked meat mixture. Mix well and spread evenly in baking dish.
  5. Top & Bake: Sprinkle remaining cheese on top. Bake 20–25 min until bubbly and golden. Broil 2–3 min for extra crispiness.
  6. Serve: Let rest 5 min. Scoop and enjoy warm!
