Ingredients
For the Spiced Apples
- 6 medium apples (Granny Smith + Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
For the Homemade Caramel
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- ÂĽ cup heavy cream
For the Cobbler Topping
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ÂĽ tsp fine sea salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prep & Preheat: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook Apples: In saucepan, cook apples, cinnamon, and sugar 8–10 minutes until softened. Set aside.
- Make Caramel: Melt butter, whisk in brown sugar and cream. Boil gently 1 minute, then cool slightly.
- Assemble Base: Pour melted butter into dish. Whisk sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, milk, and vanilla. Pour batter over butter (do not stir).
- Layer & Bake: Stir 1 cup caramel into apples. Spoon mixture over batter (do not stir). Bake 22–26 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Serve: Cool 10 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and drizzle with remaining caramel.
