Ingredients

For the Spiced Apples

  • 6 medium apples (Granny Smith + Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

For the Homemade Caramel

  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • ÂĽ cup heavy cream

For the Cobbler Topping

  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ÂĽ tsp fine sea salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prep & Preheat: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook Apples: In saucepan, cook apples, cinnamon, and sugar 8–10 minutes until softened. Set aside.
  3. Make Caramel: Melt butter, whisk in brown sugar and cream. Boil gently 1 minute, then cool slightly.
  4. Assemble Base: Pour melted butter into dish. Whisk sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, milk, and vanilla. Pour batter over butter (do not stir).
  5. Layer & Bake: Stir 1 cup caramel into apples. Spoon mixture over batter (do not stir). Bake 22–26 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  6. Serve: Cool 10 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and drizzle with remaining caramel.
