Ingredients

  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cumin (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
  • 6 large flour tortillas
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Cook Filling: In a skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Season: Add garlic powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir well and cook for 2 more minutes.
  3. Assemble: Spoon beef mixture onto tortillas. Add cheese, then fold into burrito-style wraps.
  4. Fry: Heat oil in a pan. Fry chimichangas seam-side down until golden and crispy on all sides. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve: Plate and garnish with sour cream, salsa, or guacamole if desired.
