🥚 Crunchy Scotch Eggs ✨
Golden, crispy, and savory—these Scotch eggs are a classic snack or appetizer with a satisfying crunch!
Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- 1 lb (450g) ground sausage meat
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
- 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 cup (100g) breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Boil Eggs: Place eggs in saucepan, cover with cold water. Bring to boil, then simmer 5–7 minutes. Cool in ice water, peel.
- Prepare Sausage: Mix sausage meat with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Divide into 4 portions.
- Wrap Eggs: Flatten sausage into patties. Place peeled egg in center, wrap evenly.
- Breading Station: Roll each sausage-wrapped egg in flour, dip in beaten egg, then coat with breadcrumbs. Press gently to stick.
- Fry: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry Scotch eggs in batches 5–7 minutes until golden and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
