Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 packet (1/4-ounce) unflavored gelatin
  • 1/3 cup dry milk powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 4 cups grated mild cheddar cheese or a combination of cheddar and Colby

Directions

Prepare the loaf pan

Heat the water

  1. Pour the water into a saucepan and bring it to a boil.

Blend the dry ingredients

  1. In a blender, combine the gelatin, dry milk powder, and kosher salt. Pulse a few times to blend.

Add boiling water

  1. Pour the boiling water into the blender with the dry ingredients and pulse immediately a few times to mix.

Add the cheese

  1. Quickly add the grated cheddar (or cheddar and Colby) to the blender and process until smooth and creamy.

Transfer to the pan

  1. Pour or spoon the cheese mixture into the prepared loaf pan. Smooth the top and fold the excess plastic wrap over to cover.

Refrigerate

  1. Refrigerate for several hours or overnight until firm.

Slice and use

  1. Remove from the pan using the plastic wrap and slice as needed. Use for snacks, sandwiches, grilled cheese, or in sauces and dips.
