Ingredients (Serves 2)

  • 4 slices of bread (white, whole grain, or sourdough)
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 4 slices of cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Swiss)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp butter (softened)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: chopped parsley or chives for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread: Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F) or heat skillet over medium. Butter one side of each bread slice and place buttered side down on baking sheet or skillet.
  2. Add the Ham and Cheese: Place a slice of ham on each bread slice, then top with cheese.
  3. Create a Nest for the Egg: Press gently in the center of bread with a spoon to make an indentation. Crack an egg into each slice.
