Ingredients
- 700 g (1½ lb) boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1½ cups orzo pasta
- 1½ cups Gruyère cheese, shredded
- ½ tsp dried thyme
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- Optional: fresh parsley for garnish

- Sear chicken: Heat olive oil in a skillet. Sear chicken on both sides until lightly golden. Transfer to crockpot.
- Sauté aromatics: In the same skillet, cook onion and garlic until fragrant. Add to crockpot.
- Add liquids: Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir in thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Cook: Cover and cook on LOW for 4–5 hours or HIGH for 2–3 hours, until chicken is tender.
- Add orzo: Stir in orzo during the last 30 minutes of cooking. Ensure pasta absorbs liquid and becomes tender.
- Finish: Stir in Gruyère cheese until melted and creamy.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy hot.
