Filling & Frosting
- 2 cups heavy cream, whipped
- 250 g cream cheese (optional, for stability)
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- Optional: chocolate ganache drizzle

- Prepare pans: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Mix dry: In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Mix wet: In another bowl, beat eggs, sugars, milk, oil, and vanilla until smooth.
- Combine: Add dry mixture to wet. Stir in hot water/coffee until batter is smooth.
- Bake: Divide batter into pans. Bake 30–35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
- Prepare filling: Whip cream with powdered sugar and vanilla. Fold in cream cheese if using.
- Assemble: Place one cake layer on a plate. Spread cream filling, add sliced strawberries. Top with second cake layer.
- Frost: Cover cake with remaining cream. Decorate with strawberries and drizzle ganache if desired.
- Serve: Chill 30 minutes before slicing for neat layers.
