A classic Chinese stir-fry—juicy beef, crisp onions, and peppers tossed in a savory sauce.
Ingredients
For the Marinade
- 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp sesame oil
For the Stir-Fry
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1–2 bell peppers (red/green), sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- ½ cup beef broth
- 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)
- Salt & pepper, to taste
Directions
- Marinate beef: In a bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Toss beef slices and let sit 20–30 minutes.
- Sear beef: Heat 1 tbsp oil in a wok or skillet. Stir-fry beef until browned but not fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté veggies: Add remaining oil. Stir-fry onion, peppers, and garlic until slightly softened.
- Combine: Return beef to pan. Add soy sauce, beef broth, and cornstarch slurry. Stir until sauce thickens and coats everything.
- Season: Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve: Enjoy hot over steamed rice or noodles.
