Ingredients

  • 200 ml warm milk
  • 200 ml warm water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 bag dry yeast
  • 100 ml oil
  • 100 g softened butter
  • About 750 g flour
  • 1 egg yolk (for brushing)
  • Poppy seeds (for sprinkling)

Directions

  1. Activate yeast: Mix warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Make dough: Add oil, butter, salt, and flour gradually. Knead until smooth and elastic.
  3. Rise: Cover bowl and let dough rise 1–1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  4. Shape: Divide dough into equal portions. Shape into rolls and place on a baking tray.
  5. Second rise: Cover and let rise another 20–30 minutes.
  6. Brush & sprinkle: Brush tops with egg yolk and sprinkle with poppy seeds.
  7. Bake: Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Serve: Enjoy warm, fluffy rolls straight from the oven.
