Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • ½ cup pizza sauce or taco sauce
  • 1 package refrigerated crescent dough or pizza dough
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, salsa, chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until browned. Drain excess fat. Add garlic powder, paprika, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Cook 2 minutes more to bloom spices. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. Assemble Pockets: Roll out crescent or pizza dough. Cut into squares or rectangles. Spoon beef mixture into the center of each piece. Add shredded cheeses and a spoonful of sauce. Fold dough over filling to form pockets. Seal edges with a fork.
  3. Egg Wash: Brush tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  4. Bake: Place pockets on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15–18 minutes, until golden brown and cheese is melted.
