Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 3 cups whole milk, warmed
  • Ground cinnamon, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set oven to 325°F (165°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch pie dish.
  2. Mix Custard: Whisk eggs, sugar, salt, vanilla, and nutmeg until smooth.
  3. Add Milk: Slowly stir in warm milk while whisking continuously.
  4. Assemble: Pour mixture into pie dish. Sprinkle top with cinnamon.
  5. Water Bath: Place dish in a larger pan. Add hot water halfway up the sides.
  6. Bake: Bake 55–60 minutes until custard is set but slightly jiggly in center.
  7. Cool & Chill: Remove from oven and water bath. Cool on wire rack, then refrigerate until fully chilled.
  8. Serve: Enjoy cold with a sprinkle of cinnamon or whipped cream.
