Ingredients
- 4 large egg yolks
- 1 (14 oz / 400 g) can sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups (480 ml) whole milk
- ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp freshly grated nutmeg (plus extra for garnish)

- Whipped cream
- Cinnamon sticks
- Light dusting of nutmeg or cinnamon
- Edible gold dust or star anise
Instructions
- Whisk Base: In a saucepan, whisk egg yolks and condensed milk until smooth.
- Add Liquids & Spices: Gradually whisk in milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg until uniform.
- Gentle Simmer: Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, 8–10 minutes until mixture coats the back of a spoon (~160°F / 71°C). Do not boil.
- Cool & Set: Remove from heat. Press plastic wrap directly on surface. Cool 1 hour, then refrigerate at least 2 hours (overnight best).
- Serve:
- Chilled: Pour into glasses. Top with whipped cream and nutmeg.
- Warm: Reheat gently (do not boil). Serve in mugs with cinnamon stick stirrer.
