Cheesy Ham and Egg Toast 🍳🧀🥪
A quick and tasty recipe, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a light meal!
Ingredients (Serves 2)
- 4 slices of bread (white, whole grain, or sourdough)
- 4 slices of ham
- 4 slices of cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Swiss)
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tbsp butter (softened)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: chopped parsley or chives for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread: Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F) or heat skillet over medium. Butter one side of each bread slice and place buttered side down on baking sheet or skillet.
- Add the Ham and Cheese: Place a slice of ham on each bread slice, then top with cheese.
- Create a Nest for the Egg: Press gently in the center of bread with a spoon to make an indentation. Crack an egg into each slice.
- Bake or Cook:
- Oven: Bake 10–12 minutes until egg white is set and yolk is runny (or longer for firm yolk).
- Skillet: Cover with lid and cook over low heat until eggs are done to your liking.
- Season and Garnish: Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Garnish with parsley or chives.
- Serve: Serve warm with fresh fruit, salad, or coffee for a complete meal.
