🤎🍫 Nutella Kunafa

A decadent twist on the classic Middle Eastern dessert—crispy phyllo, gooey Nutella, and creamy filling in every bite!
🧂 Ingredients
Kunafa Layers
- 500g shredded phyllo dough (kataifi), thawed if frozen
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup Nutella (or more to taste)
Cream Filling
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Syrup
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Optional Garnishes
- Chopped hazelnuts
- Extra Nutella drizzle
- Powdered sugar
👩🍳 Instructions
- Prepare Cream Filling: In a saucepan, combine milk, cream, cornstarch, and sugar. Whisk over medium heat until thickened. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and cover with plastic wrap. Set aside.
- Make Syrup: In a small saucepan, boil sugar and water. Simmer 5 minutes, then stir in lemon juice and vanilla. Let cool.
- Assemble Kunafa: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Toss shredded phyllo with melted butter. Divide into two portions. Press one into a greased 9-inch round dish.
- Add Fillings: Spread cream filling over phyllo. Drizzle Nutella generously. Top with remaining phyllo and press gently.
- Bake: Bake 30–35 minutes until golden and crispy. Pour cooled syrup over hot kunafa and let soak for 10–15 minutes.
- Garnish & Serve: Drizzle extra Nutella, sprinkle hazelnuts, and serve warm.
