Tarte Tatin 🍎

Ingredients:

  • 6 apples (preferably Golden or Granny Smith)
  • 100g unsalted butter
  • 150g sugar
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples into thick wedges. Drizzle with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  3. In a non-stick ovenproof pan, melt the butter and add the sugar. Cook over medium heat until it turns a golden caramel color.
  4. Remove from heat and neatly arrange the apple slices on top of the caramel, rounded side down.
  5. Place the puff pastry over the apples, tucking the edges around the fruit.
  6. Prick the pastry with a fork and bake for 30–35 minutes, until golden brown.
  7. Allow to rest for 5 minutes, then carefully invert the tart onto a plate.
  8. Serve warm, optionally with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
