Golden fried wings coated in a sweet and smoky honey BBQ sauce — sticky, flavorful and impossible to resist. Perfect for game day or any party!
Ingredients
- 2 lbs (≈1 kg) chicken wings, split and tips removed
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- Vegetable oil for frying
- ½ cup BBQ sauce (your favorite)
- ¼ cup honey
- 1 tbsp hot sauce (optional for extra heat)
- 1 tbsp butter
Instructions
- Prepare the wings: Pat chicken wings dry with paper towels. In a bowl, mix flour, salt, pepper, and paprika. Coat the wings evenly in the flour mixture.
- Heat oil: Pour vegetable oil into a deep skillet or pot (about 2 inches deep). Heat to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the wings: Fry wings in batches for 8–10 minutes per batch, turning occasionally, until golden brown and fully cooked. Transfer to a paper towel–lined plate to drain.
- Make the sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine BBQ sauce, honey, hot sauce (if using), and butter. Stir until smooth and slightly thickened (about 3–5 minutes).
- Coat the wings: Place the fried wings in a large bowl. Pour the warm sauce over the wings and toss until evenly coated.
- Serve: Serve immediately with ranch or blue cheese dressing and celery sticks if desired.
Tips
- Double fry the wings for extra crispiness: fry once at 300°F, rest, then again at 375°F.
- For oven-baked version: bake wings at 425°F (220°C) for 45 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Use parchment paper or foil to make cleanup easier.
