Ham and Cheese Rolls
Soft, golden rolls filled with melted cheese and savory ham — a bakery-style favorite perfect for breakfast, snacks, or parties!
Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet) instant yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 eggs
- 4 tablespoons butter (softened)
- 200 g sliced ham (chopped)
- 200 g shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
- 1 egg yolk + 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
- Make the dough: Add eggs, salt, and butter. Gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
- Let it rise: Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Shape the rolls: Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the chopped ham and cheese, then roll it up tightly. Cut into pieces and place on a greased tray.
- Second rise: Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes.
- Brush and bake: Brush with egg wash and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown.
- Serve: Let cool slightly and enjoy warm — soft, cheesy, and delicious!
Tips
- Use puff pastry instead of dough for a flakier version.
- Add mustard or cream cheese inside for extra flavor.
- These rolls can be frozen and reheated later — still taste fresh!
