Beef stir-fry with onions and bell peppers is a classic dish found in many Asian-inspired kitchens. Known for its rich, savory flavor, colorful vegetables, and tender slices of beef, it’s a quick yet satisfying meal. It combines the sweetness of caramelized onions, the crunch of bell peppers, and the umami of soy-based sauce — making it perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

For the Beef Marinade:

  • 500 g beef steak (sirloin or flank), thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp cornflour (cornstarch)
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • ½ tsp black pepper

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 bell peppers, sliced
  • Soy-based sauce of your choice

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine beef with marinade ingredients. Let sit 15–30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a wok or large pan over medium-high heat. Sear beef until browned, remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, sauté onion and bell peppers until slightly softened.
  4. Return beef to the pan, add sauce, and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until everything is coated and heated through.
  5. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
